Lori Vallow has been ordered to “physically produce” her two children to US authorities after they mysteriously disappeared four months ago.

An American mother whose two children have been missing for months has been ordered to “physically produce” them this week after being located in Hawaii with her new husband.

Lori Vallow has “completely refused” to assist the investigation into the disappearance of her daughter Tylee Ryan, 17, and adopted son Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, according to the Rexburg Police Department.

The two children were last seen in Rexburg in the northwestern state of Idaho in the US in September 2019.

A welfare check was made on the young boy in November but Ms Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell falsely told investigators Joshua was staying with a family friend in Arizona.

He has special needs and requires medical attention.

“We strongly believe that Joshua and Tylee’s lives are in danger,” local police said last month.

Ms Vallow must produce the pair to health and welfare authorities or to the police department in Idaho by Thursday, January 30 after child protection action was filed on their behalf.

“Failure to comply with this order may subject Lori Vallow to civil or criminal contempt of court,” police said.

Ms Vallow, 46, married Mr Daybell, 51, last year.

Her new husband has penned several books about prophecies and the end of the world.

Police haven’t disclosed the exact nature of the connection but authorities note the marriage happened a couple of weeks after Mr Daybell’s first wife, librarian Tammy Daybell, 49, was found dead in her Fremont County home in Colorado in October.

Her death was initially thought to be natural but her remains have since been exhumed in Utah, where she was buried, Rexburg Police Chief Shane Turman said in December.

Subsequent investigations by the local sheriff’s office determined Ms Daybell’s death may be suspicious however the results from her autopsy are yet to be released.

Ms Vallow’s former husband Charles Vallow is also dead.

He filed for divorce last February, claiming his wife believed she was reincarnated, a “translated being” and “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020”, The Washington Post reports.

He was fatally shot by his brother-in-law, Ms Vallow’s brother Alex Cox, in July 2019.

Mr Cox called 911 to say he had a fight with Mr Vallow and shot him “in self defence”, Fox 10 Phoenix reported.

Mr Cox died in December of unknown causes and police are awaiting his toxicology results.

Tammy Daybell was found dead in October 2019.

Charles Vallow was shot dead in July 2019.

Rexburg Police Department said Ms Vallow and Mr Daybell have previously lied.

“We are aware that in the weeks after Tammy Daybell’s death, Lori Vallow/Daybell and Chad Daybell told witnesses that Lori’s daughter had died a year before the death of her father, which is untrue,” Rexburg Police Department said.

“Around that same time Chad told another witness that Lori had no minor children.”

Earlier this month, Ms Vallow’s adult son Colby Ryan posted a seven-minute video to YouTube.

He made an emotional plea to his mother for any information about his siblings’ whereabouts.

“I can’t tell you how hurt and frustrated and confused I am about what is going on,” Mr Ryan said.

“You have the power to end this. You have an opportunity to put this all to rest.

“I really, really want to see Tylee and JJ. I really want this to be over.”

Ms Vallow was served with the order by the Kauai Police Department in Princeville, Hawaii on January 25.

KPD Chief Todd G. Raybuck said: “It’s our sincere hope that the children have a safe return.”

The couple has reportedly been splitting their time between a beachside resort and a townhouse.

Police said Ms Vallow was with Mr Daybell but there was no sign of the missing boy or girl.

“There is no evidence that Tylee and JJ were ever in Hawaii,” police said.

The couple were also searched on Sunday, January 26, along with their vehicle.

The child protection action is usually confidential and sealed to protect the identity of the parties involved.

But the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office was allowed to disclose its existence “to alert the public and anyone with knowledge of the location or health and safety of the children”.

“We know that the children are not with Lori and Chad Daybell and we also have information indicating that Lori knows either the location of the children or what has happened to them,” Rexburg police said in a statement on December 30.

“It is astonishing that rather than work with law enforcement to help us locate her own children, Lori Vallow has chosen instead to leave the state with her new husband.”

Police said many people had inquired as to why no charges had been laid.

“Our primary concern at this point is simply locating Joshua and Tylee and charging decisions will be made in due course based upon the evidence available,” Rexburg police said.

“If we find that harm was done to these children within our jurisdiction, we will prosecute whoever caused that harm.”

The FBI is assisting with the investigation.

JJ Vallow’s grandparents have announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to the discovery of the children.
