Donald Trump has responded after an image of him with a two-toned face went viral, branding the photo 'fake news'.

If you've been on social media in the past day or so, you'll probably know the photo he's referring to.

It was taken on Friday 7 February as the POTUS made his way back to the White House and shows his hair blowing back in the wind.

With his hair swept back off his face, a tan line was quite visible, and the unfortunate shot quickly became a meme with thousands of people piling in to take the p***.

A caption alongside the photo read: "@realDonaldTrump⁩ returns to the White House from Charlotte, North Carolina. Photo by William Moon at the South Lawn of the White House on February 7, 2020".

As you can probably imagine, it didn't take long for Moon's shot to go viral, where it was shared with a bunch of witty captions, including 'my man looks like he fell asleep while eating a lasagna,' 'me after watching exactly one makeup YouTube' and 'to underscore his commitment to coal, Donald Trump stuck his face into a blast furnace for a full minute'.

However, now Trump has slammed the image as 'fake news' and claims it was 'photoshopped' - despite the fact there are numerous images, taken by different photographers for various news agencies, which all show the same colour change.

Taking to Twitter, Trump quote tweeted a post which had a black and white version of the snap - but has since been deleted - and wrote: "More Fake News. This was photoshopped, obviously, but the wind was strong and the hair looks good? Anything to demean!"

Ah, well, at least he's happy with his hair, eh?

It is fair to point out that the image that went viral, taken by photographer William Moon who uses the Twitter account @photowhitehouse, did appear to show a much starker contrast between Trump's face and his hairline compared to some of the other photos taken by snappers from news agencies such as PA or Getty.

It's also important to point out that, despite his Twitter handle, Moon is not affiliated with the White House and isn't a member of the White House News Photographers Association.
