An Australian mum’s hack on how to save $5,000 has gone viral after she shared it to social media platform TikTok.

In the video, Becky Turiczi shows how she used only a savings tin, a piece of paper, stickers, a black marker and sticky tape to achieve the savings goal.

On the piece of paper, Turiczi wrote the numbers one to 100 in order and stuck the paper to the tin.

Turiczi then deposits a $50-note into the can and puts a sticker over the number 50 on the sheet of paper.

The hack is to deposit an amount between $1 to $100 in the tin can as you go and by the time you’ve crossed out every number, you would’ve saved $5,050.

When putting that amount away, you simultaneously cross out - or put a sticker over - the corresponding number on the sheet of paper.

“Here’s to saving,” Turiczi captioned with “money challenge video”.

Those looking to save can choose how frequently they want to put money away.

Depositing an amount twice a week will mean the goal will be reached within a year.

Putting money in the tin and crossing out a number every day means you’ll have saved the $5,050 by the end of 100 days.

Since it was posted last month, the video has received thousands of likes, with users praising the genius hack.
