Vegan activist Tash Peterson confronted by butcher after protesting at Perth shopping centre

A bizarre exchange between a vegan activist and a butcher inside a Perth shopping centre has been shared online.

Notorious animal rights activist Tash Peterson appeared at a Perth shopping centre on Thursday morning dress in “blood-splattered” white clothing and holding a pig’s head.

Standing outside the butcher’s shop, she shouts about animals being suffocated to death before a female butcher literally jumps over the counter and yells at her to “get out now.”

Posting the altercation to her Facebook page, Peterson writes: “Why is she so triggered when I speak the truth about what happens in the very industry that she profits from?”

In the video, the butcher calls the activist a “f***ing idiot.”

Undeterred, Peterson keeps shouting about pigs being more intelligent dogs and claims they are “the third most intelligent species on this planet.”

Holding the pig’s head aloft, she shouts to passersby: “Could you shoot him in the head yourself? Could you slit his throat yourself?”

Christmas Eve shoppers variously appear to ignore her, laugh, or pull out their phones to begin filming.

“If you use animal products you are an animal abuser,” Peterson shouts.

The butcher then tries to grab the pig’s head and the pair get into a tussle.

“Don’t you have a life?”, the visibly angry butcher yells.

“Can I come to your work and do this to you?”

She then pulls Peterson out of the shopping centre by the pig’s snout as a security guard comes along to ensure the activist leaves the centre.

The video, when posted online, divided opinion.

“What a professional employee she is, swearing at the top of her voice, sticking her middle fingers up, she needs to relax, all that cholesterol from eating animals is going to give her a heart attack,” one person said about the butcher.

Another disagreed.

“That woman was completely and utterly in the right,” the Facebook user argued.

“She might have gone berserk and gone berserk but I can see why she did it.

“It’s aggravating when someone disturbs you when you’re trying to work and make a living.”

“Well done Tash, it takes courage to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves,” one supporter wrote.

“I like you but you asked for it this time,” another said.

“I’m sorry but the lady was 100% in the right in this situation and I understand exactly why she got angry.”

Peterson has repeatedly made headlines in WA for her activist antics, including going topless on the Fremantle cappuccino strip, storming into restaurants that serve meat and running onto the field during the first AFLW Derby at Optus Stadium in February.

Earlier this year she claimed she received regular death threats as well as animal bones and meat products being dumped on her front doorstep.
