Three-year-old boy and dog found abandoned in Ohio cemetery before Christmas

A three-year-old boy and a dog were found abandoned in a cemetery just two days before Christmas.

Police responded to the Hope Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ohio on December 23 following reports from the public.

A witness at the scene told investigators she had seen a blue car parked in one corner of the cemetery.

She then saw it drive away at high speed.

“It was then that she observed a little boy running after the car followed by a dog,” Hinckley Police Department Chief David Centner said.

“The little boy only knows his first name as Tony.

“He did tell officers his mom’s name was Katy and his dad’s name was David.”

Tony was taken into protective custody before police put a call out to anyone who recognised him to come forward.

On Christmas Eve, Centner said Tony was “doing well in the loving home of a foster family”.

In an update, Centner revealed that the boy’s parents had been found and authorities and children’s services were looking into the matter.

However he said many local families had also offered to take the youngster in and adopt him.
